Signature song

Signature song (angl. doslova „podpisová pieseň“) je skladba (v niektorých prípadoch jedna z niekoľkých skladieb), ktorá najčastejšie slúži na identifikáciu interpreta (speváka či speváčky, alebo hudobnej skupiny), aj keď mohol mať aj iné populárne diela.

Tieto skladby sa stávajú povinnou súčasťou repertoáru výberoviek a koncertných vystúpení toho-ktorého umelca. V niektorých prípadoch nemusí byť signature song zároveň aj komerčne najúspešnejším. Signature song jedného umelca môže byť vzhľadom na kultúrne zvyklosti a tradície obyvateľstva v rôznych krajinách sveta rozdielny.

V prípadoch, keď ide o viac ako jednu charakteristickú skladbu, zvyknú tieto viaceré diela často pochádzať z jedného spoločného hudobného albumu, ktorý je potom považovaný za ich najlepší alebo tiež signature album.

Termín signature song nemožno použiť na prípady, keď sa niektorý umelec stal známym iba vďaka jednému hitu a nedosiahol úspech ďalšou svojou tvorbou (v takom prípade sa jedná o tzv. One-Hit Wonder)
