A Passage in Time

A Passage in Time je výberový album Dead Can Dance pôvodne vydaný iba v Severnej Amerike 21. októbra 1991, ako vôbec prvá nahrávka oficiálne vydaná v USA. Už ako vraví názov albumu, v preklade „prielet časom“, ide o výberovku z predchádzajúcich nahrávok. Paradoxne z prvého albumu tu nie je ani jedna skladba, hoci skladba s rovnomenným názvom sa nachádza práve na prvom albume tejto dvojice. Album obsahuje tiež dve nové skladby „Bird“ a „Spirit“, ktoré boli neskôr vydané na LP verzii albumu Into the Labyrinth. V roku 1998 bol album remastrovaný a vydaný celosvetovo. Autormi obalu sú Christopher Bigg, Brendan Perry, N. Downer, Planet Earth Pictures a Sara Leigh Lewis.[1]

Brendan Perry povedal: „…Vybrali sme skladby, aby sme ukázali cestu ako do seba postupne zapadajú. Je to evolučné, prejsť dačím, v protiklade k času, ktorý je nemenný a lineárny. Odvodiť z dačoho a prísť k niečomu. Hudba má sklon mať iskru a žiariť, hoci okolité udalosti sú veľmi pochmúrne…“[2]
