Technický death metal

Technický death metal je podžáner death metalu. Vznik sa datuje na začiatok 90. rokov. Tento žáner pochádza z thrash metalu (stará Metallica, Slayer a Coroner), technického a progresívneho rocku (Rush), old school death metalu ( raná tvorba Death a Morbid Angelu, tvorba Possessed) a je ovplyvnený progresívnymi, technickými a virtuóznymi tendenciami z džezu ale aj z klasickej hudby. Základy tohto subžánru položili kapely ako Atheist, Death, Nocturnus, Gorguts, Demilich a Immolation.
