Philip Ziegler

Philip Sandeman Ziegler (* 24. december 1929) je britský biograf a historik.

Životopis

Vzdelával sa na St Cyprian's School, Eastbourne a potom na Summer Fields School v Oxforde.[1] Pokračoval na Eton College a New College. Absolvoval štúdium práv a nastúpil k British Foreign Service. Následne bol vyslaný na miesta ako Laos, Pretoria a Bogota, a pôsobil aj ako delegát NATO v Paríži.[2]

V roku 1967 odišiel z diplomatických služieb a začal pracovať pre nakladateľstvo Collins. Pôvodne zamýšľal stať sa románopiscom, ale začal kariéru ako autor životopisov. Bol šéfredaktorom v Collins v rokoch 1979-80. Písal pre The Spectator, The Listener, The Times, The Daily Telegraph a History Today.[2]
